Rabid bat found near UIUC Newman Center

Bat tested positive Oct. 1; CUPHD says public risk is low and no human exposures identified yet.

Champaign-Urbana Public Health District reported a bat found near St. John’s Catholic Newman Center on the UIUC campus tested positive for rabies on Oct. 1.

Anyone who touched, was bitten or scratched by the bat, or may have shared a room while asleep should call CUPHD at 217-352-7961.
