An off-duty Chicago police officer shot and wounded two men around 12:50 a.m. Sunday in the 2600 block of West 24th Street after a man approached his car and hit him in the face, Block Club Chicago reports, citing a police statement. Both men were hospitalized in fair condition; the man who struck the officer was taken into custody.

Police say the officer then drove a short distance, got out, and fired more shots toward the group; no one else appeared to be hit. The officer is on administrative duty for 30 days while COPA investigates.
