LeClaire Courts redevelopment breaks ground this month
Construction is set to begin later this month on the first phase of a $127 million redevelopment of the former LeClaire Courts public housing site in Garfield Ridge, Block Club Chicago reports. Two six-story buildings will hold 183 apartments: about half for CHA voucher renters, 74 affordable and 18 market-rate.
Completion is targeted for the first half of 2028. The phase also includes an early childhood center and retail space; neighbors want a grocery store. The site has had no housing since LeClaire Courts was demolished in 2011.
