Late-October downtown: pop-up comedy, Abe’s Haunted Hollow, Halloween at the Market

Free events Oct. 23, 24 and 31 — bring a chair, a costume or the dog.

The year’s last Downtown Pop-Up Comedy Show is Friday, Oct. 23, at 7:30 p.m. on the Adams Street Square — free, limited seating, adult material; bring a chair. On Saturday, Oct. 24, the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum becomes Abe’s Haunted Hollow from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., with games, a selfie station, a giant pumpkin walk-through and DJ Dino-mite. It’s free with no registration, and downtown’s Halloween parade passes by afterward, Visit Springfield lists.

On Halloween morning, Downtown Springfield Inc.’s free Halloween at the Market at the Old Capitol Farmers Market holds costume contests — kids at 10 a.m., families and groups at 10:20, pets at 10:40 (sign-up starts at 9:45) — with prizes from Kidzeum.
