Hazy Gold Sunday Evening, a Bears Win, and a Monday To-Do List
Sunday evening in Springfield settles in warm and a little hazy — seventy-three degrees that feels like it borrowed a late-summer afternoon and hasn’t decided to give it back. The breeze has drifted around to the north, which is the weather’s polite way of saying the jacket might come back out by Monday breakfast.
The scoreboard brought good news from up north: a 23–12 Bears win built on a running game that just kept going. UIS has Homecoming week rolling, Mammogram Mondays start tomorrow at Memorial, Pints for Polio pours Tuesday on Wabash, and the White Sox take their 1–0 series lead into Cleveland at about 4 p.m. — which is roughly when the office clock starts moving slower anyway.
So here’s to hazy gold sunsets, running backs who never tire, and one more round of Capital Word before lights out. Springfield doesn’t need a parade for Sunday night. It just needs a clear sky, a sunny forecast, and maybe a second slice of leftover pizza.
